Nature

I've been thinking lately about the beauty of nature. I have to say that one downside of pregnancy is that I'm not as active as usual. It's been hard for me at times, not being able to get around as much as I used to! But I'm looking forward to the day when I can have the energy and mobility to get back out and explore the beautiful world God's created for us!

This isn't me. But it may as well be me today when I went to get a Massachusetts driver's license. Why do I always seem to pick the most unflattering times to get a new license? The last license renewal I had wasn't planned. I was signing up to take a massage therapy test and hadn't gotten a license with my married name yet. When I went to sign up for the test they told me I needed a more current license, so I bolted out of the office, ran to the nearest DMV, and got a new one. Well, that day I had neglected to do just about anything to myself, and for the past 2 years I've been pretty unhappy anytime I've had to pull out my license for some reason.
Today I got a Massachusetts license, and of course I am 9 months pregnant. For the next several years I will have to look at a photo of myself simulating a walrus whenever I have to display my i.d. Never again! This will be me next time:
....except I probably won't be holding an Academy Award, or wearing a formal gown.....

Project

Today I spent the day painting this picture for the baby's room. I bet you can't guess the theme? That's right, trees. Eric found some small shelves for free the other day, and the room is coming together quite nicely. Because we're renting we can't paint the walls (which would be my first choice for the nursery) so I decided to do a painting and other wall hangings instead. I'm really pleased with the way my painting turned out!

Invincible

When I hear this word, one name comes to mind. Chuck Norris. Years ago, when I was twelve, I had a little crush on him. I would watch Walker, Texas Ranger with my siblings, and we would be amazed that there was never, ever an episode where he was hit by the bad guy. The majority of the show he was duking it out with some criminal, but he was never hit. It was incredible! Every week I had to watch, just to see if the day ever came where he was outsmarted, but it never came. I was amazed, and that may explain the infatuation.
Then today I saw this on youtube. Now I'm not necessarily backing Mike Huckabee for President. This is a political free blog, but I do have to say Huckabee sure knows what he's doing when he uses the Invincible to support his campaign. I mean, if I'm not voting for him, I sure don't want Norris to find out. No way.
p.s. if you don't watch the link, you're missing out!

My Mountain Man

Pretty hairy, huh? (Eric's the one in the middle). I think this is the hairiest he's ever been. Of course, we were living in Alaska at the time, and what man doesn't want to be scruffy while living in America's last frontier? I didn't realize when we were dating just how long Eric would let things go, but I think 8 months is the record. Sorry but this photo is just too hilarious.
Here's us a little earlier on in the summer (my cousin Bethany took this photo - she's very talented and there's a link to her blog on mine). He was hairy at this point, but little did I know that he would let his hair and beard keep growing. He ended up cutting his hair and shaving for me as an anniversary present, and I have to admit I had missed his face!
While we were in Alaska this past summer Eric and I both ran in a race in Anchorage. While Eric was running people on the sides would cheer him on, and someone yelled, "Go mountain man!" We thought it was pretty funny. On another occasion Eric was hiking and there was a 4 year old in the group. Eric was wearing his favorite jacket, a bright green soft shell. The 4 year old looked up at him and called him Shaggy from Scooby Doo. What do you think? There's definitely a resemblance, wouldn't you say? He's actually almost all shaved now, but I have to say I don't mind the beard. Sure, it can get scratchy at times, but I love my mountain man beard or no beard. He shaved the other day, and it's actually taken me a while to get used to it.

Christmas Break

Sasha, who always looks adorable in a snow hat!
These shots are on Dad and Lisa's property in McCall. Everything was so beautiful in the snow!

We went snowshoeing on the property. It was the only way to get around!

I really don't want to bore all of you with our agenda over Christmas break, so I thought I'd just share what we did in pictures. But just so you know a little, we spent Christmas in McCall, Idaho, with Dad, Lisa, Ian Tia and Lucas, and Sasha and James. It was a lot of fun and it must have snowed several feet while we were there. After that we spent some time with Eric's family in his family's cabin in Cascade, Idaho, basically just down the street, and then some time in Boise. Over new year's we went to Salt Lake and spent time with Mom, Demri and the whole sibling clan again, and it was a great way to bring in the new year! Right before I went home Mom and Sasha and Demri threw me a baby shower. It was so fun to see all my Utah friends and a great way to prepare me to return home and organize all my new baby stuffs!

On Dad and Lisa's property in McCall, looking for a Christmas tree. That's Lisa, James, Sasha, Ian and Eric.
Lucas playing with the lazy susan. Everyone else was out skiing while we hung out, just the two of us.
Eric, Tia and Ian coming in from making a ski jump outside. Boy did it snow!
