Deceived

Maybe I'm a little behind my nutrition knowledge, but I just found out yesterday that artificial sweeteners can be bad for you.  What?!  So I'm not supposed to eat sugar as a sweetener, and now I'm not supposed to eat non-sugar sweeteners either?  What kind of options does a girl have then?  Or are there sweeteners that aren't sugar and not artificial?

This wouldn't be that big of an issue for me except for the fact that I love this pseudo-crystal light stuff that I buy at the store.  We drink it every night because not only does it taste great, but it's zero calories and zero sugar.  When I found out about it I thought it was too good to be true, and now I've found out that it is.  Sigh.

We've been buying Agave Sweetener (you can find it at Trader Joe's) and it's a good alternative!

Artificial sweeteners make my sister sick! Literally. Her stomach hurts when she has them. Because of that I knew they were bad for people. I stick with sugar and honey. They may have more calories but I always think the more natural the better :)

So generally I get a headache if I eat something that has an artificial sweetener in it. I'm all about the good old regular sugar. Sure, it has more calories but it's also so much better for you. Everything in moderation -except for Bedford Farm's ice cream b/c that stuff is delicious and should be thoroughly enjoyed. :)

Honey/agave syrup etc. might be some good options for you. My favorite yogurt is sweetened with agave and it's awesome!

I totally just found out they're bad too! Something about how whatever they put in diet coke ruins your metabolism. Stink.

Anyway, I totally feel you pain.
