After 6 weeks of hard work, Birch is sleeping through the night.  Hallelujah!  And when I say sleeping through the night, I mean 12 hours.  I was just about to lose my mind at Christmastime, Eric and I both, because our baby was still getting up at least every 2-3 hours.  I decided when we got back from Utah that that was it, it was time to get to work!
After I tried several methods with no luck, one of my friends sent me the book "12 hours sleep in 12 weeks" and it did the trick.  Thank you thank you Nicole.  Oakley wasn't sleeping either, and once we got him a nightlight that problem was solved too, thank heavens.  So we basically went from 4 hours sleep a night to as many hours as we chose.
Today was a snow day, and I was so happy when I found out.  One day of uninterrupted time with the kids.  I feel so bad every time I have to wake Birch up from his afternoon nap to go pick Aspen up from school.  Her school is several miles away, and there's no bussing to our neighborhood.

I try my best to keep Oakley looking like a masculine little boy, but sometimes I have to give in to his requests to look pretty.  He dressed himself up in this getup the other day and I thought it was pretty funny.  Eric will probably have different thoughts on this :)
I put Birch in this box today, and despite the look on his face here he really liked it.  We kept dropping toys in it and he thought it was great to have his own little space.  I remember when I did this once with Aspen years ago, and she loved it too.

Love that smile!
So for some reason Aspen and Oakley hardly ever sleep in their beds.  Sometimes I'm tempted to just get rid of them altogether so they can have more precious play space in their rooms.  Anyway, most nights they want to sleep in their "doggy beds", or beds on the floor made up of their sleeping bags and blankets.  Its funny because I used to do the same thing when I was growing up.  I loved to randomly sleep on the couch in the living room or sleep on the floor, just because I liked to mix things up, and I found the floor as comfortable as my bed.  I wonder if they got that from me!

Oh, yay! I was wondering if it was working for you! I'm so glad you're getting some sleep now. I find that a good amount of sleep helps me enjoy my kids a whole lot more. And they do look fun!
